Stuff we have "Completed"
1. Uproot life and move to foreign terrain
Moved from Florida to SW Colorado
2. Purchase land
44 acres of raw land, mostly juniper, pinion pine, and sage brush.
3. Power & Water
6500 Watt solar array (not on the ground anymore) and 2500 gallon partially buried cistern tank
4. Septic System
0.5 acres of land cleared, 500 feet of trenches, 150hrs of digging on the backhoe... all to accomodate 2 people and an RV to take dumps.
5. Purchase Quonset Hut
40' wide x 44' long x 20' peak height from Durospan Steel.
6. Level the homesite
Mostly used dirt on the property and had a few trucks delivered. Many many hours on the tractor dragging the boxblade in circles.
7. Guest house delivered
Purchased a 500 bbl drill water tank to repurpose as a Father-in-law suite. 14' Diameter x 20' tall, +15000lbs of steel. FB Marketplace deal of the year.
8. Dig Foundation Trenches & Rebar Bending
The Dawson Family including Max, Lily & Wini showed up for week long rebar bending party. Couldnt have done it without ya'll!
9. Foundation Form boards
Installed form boards up to final grade above the foundation trenches. Lined everything with plastic to prevent concrete spills & preserve the wood
10. Pour concrete foundation
40 cubic yards (4 full trucks) poured in 2 hours by 2 rookies, it turned out great... ish
11. Erect the quonset hut garage
30' x 40' x 15' Galvanized poles & canvas tarp, Installed very sketchily in 2 days with 2 people. A perfect place to organize & store the materials we had laying around like the set of Sanford & Son.
12. First Ski Trip
Spent Thanksgiving day on the mountain shredding and ate a buffet at the lodge.
